He studied philosophy at Cambridge University and received his PhD from the Sorbonne in 1989 “Philosophy of Music and Composition since 1945: Reflections on the Conditions of Criticism”. He was also active as a music teacher and performer, mainly in the field of contemporary jazz and improvisation. From 2002 onwards, based in Greece, he has worked in the field of cultural management, initially as the project manager for an EU funded Medimuses network and from 2006 to 2009 as the General Manager of the B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music. From 2009 onwards he has been the Executive Director of the Onassis Cultural Centre, a division of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, as well as the head of the music program of the Centre.
